very interesting,

alothough i am not a christian, i allways thought that without suffering nobody would believe in God, it is suffering that makes us hope for better times and look for protection. Suffering reminds us of the horrors of hell.

Good point, thanks. God loves us, but He also loves the people we sin against, and His patience is not without limit.

Nice job, Phil. I would add that the Conquest also points to the Second Coming. God has endless patience for us, as you pointed out, but one day when God determines that "the iniquity of the godless i complete" our grace period will end, Christ will return, and judgment will be administered.
